They've both been heavy influences on my work, and I fear have put some deep marks in my brain as well. Bonner especially for the care with which he executes his imagery and for the delivery of the story beats within each image. He spares no expense in creating his worlds. With his work, it's not just that an image is worth a thousand words, but that, for all the detail in each image, it is worth a thousand stories. I admire that he can commit so much to a single image in an era that seems so image saturated.Justin Gerardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03608888651490148935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23140677.post-63674314810164236912008-11-18T14:05:00.000-05:002008-11-18T14:05:00.000-05:00Wow, brilliant work Justin. Always a treat.

This reminds me of the work of another old time favorite Paul Bonner. His orcs and goblins have put a deep mark in my brain.

I don't know if you are familiar with the work of early 20th century swedish artist John Bauer? If not I recommend an inspirational look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_BauerChristianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17603055880489073369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23140677.post-40384354091758460372008-11-18T11:10:00.000-05:002008-11-18T11:10:00.000-05:00Haha, Thanks Andrew! For those of you who don't...Haha, Thanks Andrew!
For those of you who don't know him, Andrew Peterson is a writer, musician and all-round great guy from Nasheville. I've had the pleasure of working on some of his productions. Most recently his book, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness, which has won an ECPA award. I hope to post some of the interior art I did for this book at some point in the near future. It was great fun to work on.
