I really enjoy piecing my compositions together digitally. This is one of the most useful aspects of photoshop for me. I love being able to arrange and re-arrange the compositions so easily. It makes it easier to try out compositional ideas. I can try out a crazy idea, and if it flops then I can try it another way without losing hours and hours of redrawing everything. The ease with which you can move elements around and mirror things is really helpful for me.
Thank you very much for sharing methods that you use. I found your blog a few days ago as a result of the Tor interview and I'm very inspired by your artwork. It's beautiful. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteJustin, I'm curious... what kind of "digital sketch" setup have you used, or are you using? For example, a Wacom Cintiq on a PC?

Currently I am using CS5 on an iMac with an Intuos 4 tablet.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the cintuiq tablets, and may pick one up in the future. They are fantastic for quick conceptual work. But for now I feel like I can get along just fine with the old Intuos for digital work.
