The finished product is stunning, but there's something about your underpaintings that I always love. The sepia tone makes it seems like an ancient artifact, and that makes my imagination very happy!
With so little of the spirit remaining of the oil painting, I question why you don't simply work digitally over your initial pencil drawing. I don't see the same passion in this piece as, say, The Forest Troll. It's still a fine piece of work, but you have taken the long way round. I'd still hang the oil stage on my wall.
Very cool!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing sketches, paint and colour, transport you to a magical world :)
ReplyDeleteGreat finish! I love the oil texture underneath the digital. Really adds a lot to the final. Fabulous color choices too.
ReplyDeleteIncredible. I love the way the rim of the planet curves with an almost fisheye effect.

ReplyDeleteHi Justin,
ReplyDeleteMay I know what are the colours/pigments you used for your underpainting?
