Misty Mountain Walk

I took a hike up through the Smoky Mountains on the AT a little while back and I am just now getting around to posting these photos. It turned out to be the absolute best Smoky Mountain weather. Hazy, ominous and cold, like a Caspar David Friedrich painting. There is nothing quite like it for clearing your head.

  1. Wow.. Some really great imagery. Winter fog has such a unique quality to it. Talk about perfect reference.

  2. Thanks for sharin', winter hikes are second only to fall ones.

  3. Very Beautiful. I love the Smokies (been there twice).
What you didn't know about, however, was the Orc-sighting in that area the day before...
Sorry, guess I should leave The Hobbit alone for awhile! :)

  4. Could you even see the white blazes with all of that snow to distract you?
I did Katahdin to Harper's Ferry on the AT in 2001, I still need to try the Smokies ...and in some snow.
    Looks like a beautiful trip!
